Orange County has the highest per capita income in the state, and it tops the list of 100 counties for life expectancy. But these benefits are not equally distributed. One in eight county residents are living in poverty, many of whom are working but earning far less than a living wage. All too many residents also face continued discrimination and other forms of social injustice.

  • Redouble efforts to partner with other local governments and the nonprofit community to support services for the elderly, the disabled, the LGBTQ community, and those who are experiencing homelessness, domestic violence, mental illness, and substance use disorders.

  • Urge the state to expand Medicaid for almost half million North Carolinians, and provide coverage for the roughly one in ten Orange County residents who are uninsured.

  • Speak out against ICE raids which continue to destabilize neighborhoods, separate families, and traumatize children.
